About IWA Elementary Library
 IWA Elementary Library is dedicated to assisting students and staff in becoming lifelong learners and effective users of information while promoting an appreciation and joy of literature.
Librarian
Rhonda Mumme has been a librarian for 11 years and she is committed to providing students and faculty with quality information resources and a warm and inviting atmosphere in which to learn.
Collection
The IWA Elementary Library provides students and faculty with a variety of print and non-print resources. Our collection includes:
- 10,180 Books
- 613 Videos/CD ROMS
- 292 Reference Books
- 8 Computer Work Stations
Guidelines
The IWA Elementary Library operates on a fixed/flexible schedule. Students in each class have times scheduled every week to visit the library. The library is open all day for IWA students to research and check out books with their teachers' permission. Please check your child's schedule to find out when your child visits the library. Please help them to remember to return or renew their books on library day or fines will be assessed. Books are due within two weeks if not renewed.
Library Schedule
The library hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days. When does your childs' classroom visit the library? View the 2005-2006 library classroom schedule.
Volunteers
Parent volunteers help with daily library operations and special projects. Volunteer duties include shelving books and processing new materials. If you are interested in volunteering in the Library, please contact Mrs. Mumme at 883-0857, extension 179. Volunteers play an important role in the success of our library program. Volunteering is a great way to support IWA and become involved in your child's education.
Accelerated Reader
IWA Elementary Library uses a software program called Accelerated Reader for promoting independent reading and documenting student's growth in reading comprehension. The Library owns 4,834 AR tests. Students can easily choose an Accelerated Reader book by looking for the blue AR spine label. Reading level is also indicated on the spine with colored stickers; orange for first grade, blue for second grade, and green for third grade.
