Accelerated Reader
The Accelerated Reader (AR) Enterprise program promotes independent reading and documents students’ growth in reading comprehension. To participate in the program students choose an Accelerated Reader book by looking for the blue AR spine label in the IWA Elementary Level Library. Reading level is also indicated on book spines with colored stickers which expedites and simplifies the selection process for students. Books may be read from home or the public library—simply check the AR website for quiz availability.
Students start test taking in first grade. Students may take tests in their classrooms with their teacher's approval between 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Testing is also permitted in the library between 7:55 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Traditional curriculum students have a set number of points that they must reach each nine weeks--reading within their range. Montessori students set their own nine-week goal and must read within their reading level.
To look up a book title for AR test availability, students and parents may go to the website, www.renlearn.com. Click on Store, go to Quiz Search and in the Quiz Search text field type the entire book title. If the book does not come up under title, a book can also be looked up by using the author's name. Once a title is located, click on the title and the test number will appear. **This is for availability purposes only; Please do not purchase any tests. New tests are uploaded weekly.
