| High School Level Varsity Swimmers are State Bound The varsity swim teams will advance to compete at the TAPPS State Swim Meet on February 12, 2016 after qualifying at the TAPPS Regional Swim Meet on January 27, 2016. At regionals, bronze medals were awarded to Elijah Wolfe in the 100 fly; Grace Walsh in the 100 free; and Grace, Carolina Munoz, Payton Vicknair, and Clarie Walsh in the 400 free relay. The girls’ team finished just 12 points behind Austin St. Michaels to take fourth place. The boys’ team received fifth place behind Austin Regents. |
| Students to Compete in District Academic Meet A total of 38 middle level students will travel to Victoria on February 13, 2016 to compete in the Private Schools Interscholastic Association (PSIA) District Academic Meet. The students will compete in several categories including: calculator applications; dictionary skills; impromptu speaking; listening skills; maps, graphs and charts; modern oratory; number sense; on-site drawing; poetry interpretation; mathematics; ready writing; science; spelling; and vocabulary. |
| Elementary Level Names Science Fair Winners The elementary level science fair was held in the James R. Dougherty, Jr. Center on February 2, 2016. Kindergarten through fifth grade students created display boards on various topics. The top three finishers in each grade level will be eligible to participate in the Diocesan Science Fair later this spring semester. | IWA Holds Annual Paradise Island Gala at American Bank Center On February 27, 2016, IWA will host its annual Paradise Island Gala at the American Bank Center at 6:00 p.m. General admission seats are sold for $100 each. | Middle Level Names Spelling Bee Winner Eighth grader Claire Thomas earned first place recently at the middle level spelling bee. Her sister, seventh grader Catherine Thomas, received second place. Catherine now qualifies to compete in the South Texas Regional Spelling Bee on February 20, 2016 at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center. Read More on Campus News

| Elementary Level Student Council Hosts Clothing Drive The elementary level student council is sponsoring a clothing drive as part of the Jubilee Year of Mercy. The student council is accepting donations of gently used or new clothing, socks, shoes, and backpacks for children and adults up until February 16, 2016. These items will be going to the poor and homeless via Catholic Charities. |
| Students Meet with College Representatives Throughout School Year An admissions counselor from Texas State University spoke to students on February 4, 2016 about the campus and its majors, clubs, organizations, campus housing, and more. Throughout the school year, IWA is committed to provide students and families with college-planning resources such as visits with college admission representatives, college application nights, financial aid workshops, and other activities. There are several upcoming events planned for students and parents. | Elementary Level Celebrates 100 Days of School Elementary Level students celebrated their 100th day of school on January 29, 2016.
