Giving Drink to the Thirsty

As we enter into Holy Week and during this Year of Mercy, we are reminded of the sanctity of human life and respect for human dignity. This week, the high school level mission team traveled to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias, Texas for their annual mission trip where they will respond to human suffering in areas impacted by the immigration crisis.

As one of the corporal works of mercy and in response to the Gospel of Matthew, “when I was thirsty and you gave me to drink,” the students will travel to McAllen, Texas to visit a respite center and will work with the South Texas Human Rights Center to build and deploy 10 life-saving water stations in designated areas in Brooks county.

Students Gather for Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent

The middle level gathered in the James R. Dougherty, Jr. Center on March 11, 2016 for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is an experience of the gift of God’s boundless mercy which allows individuals to be free from their sins, but it also challenges individuals to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against them.
