Incarnate Word Academy: ANGEL eNEWS

The high school level’s senior class, with a total of 47 students, graduated on June 3, 2016. The entire class graduated with 100 percent college acceptance and more than $3.7 million, and climbing, in college scholarship offers. Faculty and staff, Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, families, and friends celebrated the graduates with a Mass at the Corpus Christi Cathedral with the Most Rev. Wm. Michael Mulvey, STL, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Corpus Christi.

Students Graduate from the Eighth Grade

A total of 70 eighth graders celebrated their final year at the middle level with a graduation Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church on June 1, 2016. The Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Roger Smith, who presented an inspirational homily. After Mass, Middle Level Principal Adolfo Garza presented each of the students with their Certificate of Completion.

Fifth Graders Promoted to the Sixth Grade

A fifth grade graduation Mass was celebrated by Father John Gaffney on June 1, 2016 in the IWA Chapel. Following Mass, students received their diplomas and distributed roses to their parents. Students, families, friends, faculty, and staff then gathered for a reception in the James R. Dougherty, Jr. Center.

Little Angels Graduate from Kindergarten to First Grade

The kindergarten class proceeded down the aisle in their red caps and gowns on May 27, 2016 in the IWA Chapel to commemorate their graduation. With proud families and friends in attendance, the students were recognized with a Mass celebrated by Father John Gaffney. Following Mass, students received their diplomas and enjoyed a reception in the James R. Dougherty, Jr. Center.

Seniors Have a Blast at Graduation Luncheon

Before heading off to the Corpus Christi Cathedral for graduation rehearsal, the Class of 2016 enjoyed a barbecue luncheon in the dining hall of the IWA Chapel. The seniors had a great time with friends and won drawing prizes such as printers, kitchen appliances, and more for college use.

Camps Provide Summer Fun

We are offering summer camps in a wide variety of sports and activities such as soccer, art, basketball, and more. IWA's summer camps allow students to practice positive attitudes, leadership skills, pride of accomplishment, loyalty to others, and self-discipline. Summer camps also encourage cooperation and teamwork, while allowing students to have a ton of fun!

Class of 2016 Inspires Elementary Level Students with Senior Walk

The Class of 2016 aimed to inspire students at the elementary level with a Senior Walk on May 27, 2016. The seniors displayed signs of where they intend to go to college after graduation. Several seniors were excited to see their former classrooms, hallways, and teachers.

The Middle Level enjoyed an end of the year celebration on June 2, 2016 in the James R. Dougherty, Jr. Center. Students participated in fun relays, games, and more before being dismissed for the summer.

Retirement Reception Honors Ray Perrone

We welcomed families, friends, and alumni to a retirement reception on June 2, 2016 in honor of Mr. Ray Perrone. Following the reception, there was a tree blessing and dedication ceremony in his honor. Mr. Perrone has taught at IWA for 30 years.
