| | BACK-TO-SCHOOL MASS HELD AT CATHEDRAL | The annual Diocesan Back-to-School Mass, which was held at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, was celebrated by Most Reverend Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey, S.T.L., D.D. Fifth, eighth, and 12th grade students represented IWA by joining other Diocesan school students to give thanks and gather in prayer for a blessed school year.

| | Parents were invited by the Campus-Wide Booster Club to Meet the Coaches on August 25th. The event, which was held in the school's Mother Patricia Gunning Gymnasium, allowed parents and families to meet coaches from all school level athletic teams. | | ELEMENTARY LEVEL HOLDS OPEN HOUSE | Elementary Level held its Back-to-School Open House for parents to visit with teachers. While teachers and parents met, students sang songs of worship at the school's pavilion.

| | IWA strives to respect the worth of every person and for life in all its forms. This is why students, faculty, staff, and the community were invited to donate blood on August 23rd. The high school level welcomes the Coastal Bend Blood Center to its campus several times throughout the year to team up with students and the community to provide the gift of life. | | The 10th Annual Angel Mile was held on August 19th at the school's training site, which is located at Our Lady of Corpus Christi. Students from all school levels took on this one-mile challenge along with parents, faculty, and staff. At the end of the school year, students will clock another mile to assess their physical condition improvement from the start of the year.

| | Elementary Level families were invited to attend a Family Fun Fiesta on August 19th at the school's playground. Families enjoyed extra playground time as well as great food from food trucks on site such as the Munchies Bus, Dazed & B'Qued, and Mix Grill. The evening also featured a DJ.

| | STUDENTS DONATE BIBLES TO TAMPA HIGH SCHOOL | High School Level students collected alms this past Lenten season to contribute to IWA's Solidarity Fund which is used for various mission and service projects throughout the school year. Using funds from the Solidarity Fund, the students recently donated nearly 100 Bibles to freshman at Cristo Rey Tampa High School, a Catholic, college-preparatory school and corporate work study program in Florida. The donation request for the Bibles came from former IWA President and CEO Charles D. Imbergamo who is now the President and CEO at Cristro Rey Tampa High School. It was a wonderful experience of solidarity for the students to provide Bibles to other students who study the scripture just as they do.

| | HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL VOLLEYBALL TEAMS START SEASON | The Lady Angel varsity volleyball team earned first place in the Cuero Lady Gobbler Tournament on August 27th. Sophomores Caroline Pekar and McKynna Beck were named to the All-Tournament team. In addition, the JV team defeated West Oso High School twice with final scores of 2-0 for both games. The next varsity and JV home games will be on August 30th against Orange Grove High School. | | YOUNG FILMMAKERS WIN AWARD AT CC7D FILM FESTIVAL
| High School Level students Justin Cavazos, Jack Harrison and Romulo Corrada won the Young Filmmaker Award for their movie "Treatment" at the Corpus Christi 7 Day Film Festival on August 13th. The students had to write, film, and edit a 4-10 minute movie in seven days. Other members of their team included students Caitlyn Martinez and Ashley Montgomery. | |
