| | MIDDLE LEVEL STUDENTS PRESENT CHECK TO GOOD SAMARITAN RESCUE MISSION
| Middle Level students presented a check of $1,173.60 on February 17th to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, a faith-based homeless shelter in Corpus Christi. Students collected the funds during an Advent service collection.

| | FIRE DEPARTMENT INSTRUCTS STUDENTS ABOUT FIRE SAFETY | The Elementary Level welcomed members of the Corpus Christi Fire Department to the campus on February 17th to conduct educational presentations on fire safety. In addition, prekindergarten and kindergarten classes had the opportunity to see fire trucks and equipment used by the fire department on a daily basis.

For the very first time in Angel history, IWA will host a live concert featuring up and coming country star and former IWA Angel Jake Ward! The concert will be on Friday, March 10th in the Mother Patricia Gunning Gymnasium. With two #1 singles on the Texas Country Charts, you won't want to miss this performance! | | VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAMS SLAM ANOTHER GREAT SEASON
| After an exciting year on the court that boasted several big wins and many memorable moments for IWA sports fans, both the boys' and girls' varsity basketball seasons have come to an end. After dominating district and area play all season long, the Lady Angels met their match against Houston Westbury Christian falling 47-51 in an extremely close game. The boys' varsity basketball team ended their run in nail-biting game in San Antonio during the TAPPS Area Playoffs. The Angels were ahead 27-21 at halftime before losing 37-55 against San Antonio Christian School.

| | BEST-SELLING AUTHOR VISITS WITH MIDDLE LEVEL STUDENTS | Terri Farley, popular best-selling author known for her "Phantom Stallion" and "Seven Tears into the Sea" young reader novels, visited with Middle Level students on February 17th. She spoke to students about writing and provided a personal, comprehensive writing session for students.

| | ROBOTICS TEAM STUDIES BEES TO GEAR UP FOR COMPETITION | After placing fourth overall in the First LEGO League Robotic Games Tournament, the students from the Middle Level advanced robotics class continue to improve their building skills leading into their first regional competition on March 11th in San Antonio. With one of the competition's events requiring students to construct a robotic Lego bee that will be transferred to a robotic beehive, the team recently visited local Corpus Christi beekeepers to better understand how the helpful creatures are managed and transferred.

| | ANGELS ENJOY WESTERN PEP RALLY TO CHEER ON ATHLETICS | Middle and High School Level students, faculty, and staff had much to celebrate at the pep rally on February 15th in the Mother Patricia Gunning Gymnasium. Students donned cowboy boots and jeans during the western-themed pep rally aimed at recognizing many of the recent accomplishments of the High School Level's sports teams.

| | ANGELS PARTICIPATE IN ENGINEERING ACTIVITIES | Eighteen freshman students boarded the legendary U.S.S. Lexington for a premiere showing of "Dream Big: Engineering Our World," a 3-D film celebrating human ingenuity and the many engineering concepts that started with a spark of the mind. The movie, which is presented by Bechtel Corporation, aspires to bring engineering to the forefront of students' minds and inspire them to become the next innovators of the 21st century and beyond. The movie featured different people who became engineers and told how they decided on this career. A hands-on activity followed the presentation where students were put into groups to complete various engineering projects. | |

| | STUDENTS HAVE FUN WITH VALENTINE'S DAY ACTIVITIES | Elementary Level students kicked off Valentine's Day with several events such as arts and crafts, reading time, and of course – special deliveries into students' homemade mailboxes.

| | The varsity swim teams recently competed at the TAPPS State Swim Championships on February 12th in San Antonio. Out of the many teams who competed, the boys' team placed ninth out of 21 teams while the girls' team finished in seventh place out of 22 teams.

| | STUDENTS EARN SCHOLARSHIPS AT MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION | After competing in the Region 2 high school mock trial program, junior Sofia Aguirre proved herself to be one of the Coastal Bend's strongest contenders in the competition which was held on February 4th at the Nueces County Courthouse. Sofia placed second in the best attorney category and secured a $2,300 college scholarship. Senior Bradley Thering and sophomore Olivia Stanton Moretzsohn tied with four others for second place in the best witness category. They each received a $400. scholarship. In addition, junior Millicent Alvarado received first place in the artist category and received a $175 college scholarship. Millicent will advance to sketch at the State Mock Trial competition in Dallas.

| | ELEMENTARY LEVEL NAMES SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS | The Elementary Level held its annual science fair on February 7th. The top three finishers in each grade level will advance to compete in the Corpus Christi Diocesan Science Fair on March 25th.

| | ELEMENTARY LEVEL HOLDS MOCK TRIAL IN CLASSROOM | Court was in session for fifth graders as they recently participated in a mock trial activity with help from local attorney Joe Flores. Sister Anne Brigid Schlegel, IWBS, presided as judge during the mock trial.

| | As the process of applying to and selecting a college becomes more and more competitive and complex, IWA is committed to providing students and families with college-planning resources. Some of the many ways IWA prepares its students for college are through college application nights, financial aid workshops, and college visits scheduled throughout the school year, and other activities. Recently, representatives from Texas Tech University and Stephen F. Austin University visited with High School Level students. In addition, the High School Level held a financial aid workshop for students and parents on February 14th.

| | ANGELS WIN BIG AT FT. WORTH & SAN ANTONIO STOCK SHOW | Sixth grader Madeline Braman competed in the Fort Worth Stock Show and fourth grader Carlisle Braman competed in the San Antonio Stock Show. Carlisle won the supreme heifer drive and a $14,000 scholarship. In the Food Competition category, Madeline received second place in class and reserve in division as well as reserve of the show for her Polled Hereford heifer, named Madonna. In the Speech Competition for ages 11-13, she received fifth place. | |
