MIDDLE LEVEL STUDENTS CREATE PIÑATAS

Sixth grade Middle Level students in Mrs. Farrar's first and third period math classes created piñatas in order to experience real world examples of how volume and surface area are used every day. Using the formula for surface area to calculate the dimensions of each side of their piñatas, the students were then able to figure out the volume — in this case, candy — for their colorful creations.
