ELEMENTARY LEVEL SWIM CLUB WRAPS UP SCHOOL YEAR

The Elementary Level swim club has had a successful first season. Lessons began back in September and will continue until the last Wednesday of the school year from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Del Mar Natatorium. At lessons, some members of the varsity swim team have volunteered to help the younger students in the water. This year, the swim club has competed in three meets. There will be one more meet on the last Wednesday of the school year. Coach Myra "Mic" Nelson said that students are not required to know how to swim prior to swim club lessons. However, they must be able to get in the water, willing to put their face in, and stand on their own. Parents are also welcome to join their child in the water. Lessons are ongoing until the end of the school year. At the beginning of the next school year, parents will be notified regarding the next start date. For more information, contact Coach Nelson at nelsonmy@iwacc.org.

Mrs. Brandy Calhoun's seventh grade Texas History class recently participated in a problem-based project focused on the Battle of San Jacinto, the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution.
