THE BEAUTY OF LENT Several times throughout the year, Middle Level eighth-graders meet up with their Angel Buddies at the Elementary Level to develop spiritual kinships and build friendships between school levels. In celebration of Lent, students visited Elementary Level classrooms to help Little Angels discover something wonderful about Easter: that Jesus showed us the mystery of death through life. Together, Angel Buddies read John 12:24 in class then proceeded to the Elementary Level Playground where they prepared grains of wheat to be planted on February 27th. Angels took turns planting their seeds and enjoyed time with their buddies on the playground. STUDENTS USE MATH SKILLS TO CREATE PIÑATAS Sixth-graders in Miss Farrar's math class put their problem-solving skills to the test by using their knowledge of perimeter, surface area, and volume to design and build their very own piñatas. Using the formula for surface area to calculate the dimensions of each side of their piñatas, the students were then able to figure out the volume—in this case, candy—for their colorful creations.
