Pep Rally and Burning of the "A" Kicks Off Homecoming

Students Learn About Texas Native American Tribes
Throughout the month of November, students in Mrs. Esther Garza’s third grade class learned about Native American tribes in Texas. On November 22, 2013, the students made presentations on the different tribes. Students also were read a story by a Native American storyteller. Middle Level's Band and Choir Perform at Mount Carmel Home
The middle level band and choir performed at Mount Carmel Home, an assisted living center, on November 22, 2013. Students had an opportunity to give their time and talents to help others and develop their life-long roles as contributing citizens of our community. Corpus Christi Caller-Times and Citgo Names IWA Senior as a Distinguished Scholar
Lucero Perez has been named as a Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo Distinguished Scholar recipient in the Career category. Nine students were named as distinguished scholar finalists in the following categories: - Communications: Chloe Bajunaid de Roche

Elementary Level Students Collect Food for Catholic Charities
Elementary level students collected 1,228 food items and $200 in gift cards throughout the month of November to be donated to Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, Inc. The elementary level student council distributed these items to Catholic Charities on November 21, 2013.

IWA Honors Military Members with Several Veterans Day Events
In observance of Veterans Day, the school honored veterans and members of the armed forces with two celebrations of Mass, and a special concert. On November 11, 2013, the middle level held a Mass at the James R. Dougherty Center, and the high school level held a concert by the IWA Band in the Angel Avenue Student Center. In addition to those events, the elementary level hosted a Mass on November 13, 2013 in the Convent Chapel of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. See Photos

Students Meet Olympic and Professional Swimmers Before Big Race
The Varsity Swim Team traveled to San Antonio to compete in the Battle for the Crown: Joan Davis Memorial Invitational Swim Meet on November 9, 2013. This competition took place in conjunction with the Fastest Man in Texas Shootout, which featured Olympic and professional athletes.

Campus-Wide Booster Club Hosts 28th Annual GermanFest
Attendees to the school’s annual GermanFest, which was held on November 9, 2013, enjoyed great food, live music, silent and live auctions, and more all thanks to the Campus-Wide Booster Club. All proceeds from the event will benefit the school’s athletic department. See Photos |

Celebrating Jeanne de Matel's Birthday with Mass
The elementary level gathered at the Convent Chapel of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament on November 6, 2013 to celebrate Mass for the birth of Jeanne Chezard de Matel, foundress of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. Students sang “Happy Birthday” and enjoyed cake at a reception following Mass. See Photos |

Students Make a Difference at High School Level's Blood Drive
IWA strives to respect the worth of every person and for life in all its forms, which is why the high school level hosted a blood drive on November 7, 2013.
