National Catholic Schools Week
Parent luncheons, guest speakers, history lessons, open houses, and a Campus-Wide Mass were all part of the 40th Annual National Catholic Schools Week celebration. This year’s theme was “Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service.” The elementary level welcomed special guests into their classrooms for reading time and career day. Middle level students enjoyed eating lunch with their parents, and also participated in a history lesson of the campus. In addition, the high school level welcomed Mecklin Ragan to speak on behalf of her brother James Ragan, founder of the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation. Students presented a check of $3,000 to the foundation. The money was raised by the high school level’s student council and solidarity fund. Read More on Campus News

Fifth Grader Wins Elementary Level Spelling Bee
Fifth grader Cyan Sepulveda-Guevara placed first at the Elementary Level Spelling Bee on January 23, 2014. Cyan now qualifies to compete in the South Texas Regional Spelling Bee on February 22, 2014 at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center. Middle Level Names 2014 Geography Bee Champion
Seventh grader Gabriel Rauen placed first in the Middle Level Geography Bee on January 10, 2014. This is Gabriel’s second year placing first in the school’s bee. Senior Receives ESPN 1440's Athlete of the Week Award
Vincent Morin, III has been named as Athlete of the Week by ESPN 1440 AM. The Athlete of the Week Award was presented to Vincent on January 24, 2014 at the high school level. He is the son of Dr. Vincent Morin, Jr. and Lydia Morin, of Corpus Christi.

Students Head to Scholastic State Chess Competition
Nine elementary level students will be competing in the 2014 Texas Scholastic State Chess Championships from February 8-9, 2014 in Houston. In the Primary Division the competitors will be: John Anderson Kretsinger, Kieran Loftin, Joaquin Loftin, Diego Roberts and Suzette Torres. The students competing in the Elementary Division will be: Ryan Fernandez, Anna Kretsinger, Rebeka Roberts, and Cyan Sepulveda-Guevara.

Caller-Times Names Coach of the Year and Members of All South Texas Cross-Country Team
Coach Donald Patterson guided the Girls’ Cross-Country Team to a top-three finish at the TAPPS 4A State Meet, while leading the Boys’ Cross-Country Team to its second straight TAPPS 4A State Title. Students Shine Bright at Middle Level History Fair

Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Foundation Presents Students with Scholarship
Sophomores Gabriella Vargas and Alexsander Villagomez were each awarded a $5,000 scholarship on January 16, 2014 by the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Foundation following a memorial Mass for Dr. Garcia. The scholarships will be used towards their junior and senior year tuition at IWA. Read More on Campus News

Varsity Swimmers are State Bound!
The high school level swim team is headed to State! The Angel Swim Team competed in the TAPPS Central Region Meet on January 29, 2014 in San Antonio. The girls’ team finished 4th and the boys’ team finished 5th. The State Meet will be held in San Antonio at the Josh Davis Natatorium on February 14, 2014. Middle Level Swimming Middle level swimming is just around the corner. The first day of practice is February 17, 2014 from 6:00-7:00 a.m. at the Corpus Christi Natatorium. Seventh Grader wins $300 in Essay Competition
Brooklyn Moreno-Arispe won the 2014 Ministry Conference Vocation Essay Contest in the middle school category. Brooklyn won $300 for her 500-word essay. Students Attend Rally for Life
Over a dozen high school level students traveled to Austin on January 26, 2014 to attend the Texas Rally for Life march. The students, along with other members of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, joined thousands of attendees from across the state.
