as Season Wraps Up
2009 IWA High School Tennis Team
The varsity tennis team hosted the district tennis tournament on March 30-31, 2009 at the HEB Tennis Center. Congratulations to Sydney Schauer and Jordan Allison on capturing the district championship in girls doubles! This is the third straight year that an Allison daughter has captured a doubles district championship.
Sydney and Jordan will advance to the state tournament in Waco on April 24th – 25th. In the final team standings, the girls team consisting of Sydney and Jordan, Caitlin Hart, Monica Herbst, Camilla Childs and Rhonnie Embres finished 3rd.
On the boy’s side, congratulations to Josh Mathews and Oscar Schechter on finishing 2nd in boys doubles. Joining Josh and Oscar at state will be Daniel Martinez and Charles Baker, who finished 5th in boys doubles and Francisco Hernaiz, who finished 3rd in boys singles.
