IWA theatre arts students have had an impressive year with strong showings and top placements at area speech, debate and dramatic arts competitions. And they just keep getting better and better!
Students competed in the Texas Forensic Association (TFA) tournament at King High School in January and again their talents shined bright and their commitment and hard work paid off with top placements in several categories:
Jordan Allison -- 1st place in Senior Prose
Lydia Ayala -- 1st place in Dramatic Interpretation
Brantly Bright -- 2nd place in Novice Poetry
Allie Moore -- 5th place in Dramatic Interpretation
Elizabeth Robertson -- 8th place in Novice Poetry
IWA entered just 11 students at this tournament. “IWA took away more trophies than some of the larger high schools in Corpus Christi,” says theatre arts teacher Mrs. Stephanie Meyers. “I am continually amazed at the talent of our students and the hard work they put into mastering the different areas of theatre arts.”
Students will be hard at work next month as IWA hosts the TAPPS District Academic competition on March 6. Theatre arts students will compete in several categories including poetry, pros, solo acting, duet, original oratory and persuasive speaking.
Way to go theatre arts students and congratulations on a great year and good luck in March!
