Lady Angel Soccer Kicks into High Gear for Post Season
Our Lady Angels lost last Saturday to Tyler Grace 5-2 in their regional competition. This ends their spectacular 2009-10 season.
The IWA Lady Angels Soccer team finished district play as Co-District Champs with San Antonio Christian. During district play IWA and SACS tied both games 0-0 and 1-1. IWA and SACS would have to play a third match on Tuesday February 2 to determine seeding for the playoffs; IWA would defeat SACS 7-0.
The Lady Angels finished their regular season 10-5-5 and 8-0-3 in district. Sophomore Caroline Cutbirth leads the team with 21 total goals. Freshman Kanya Maliwan had 11 goals before suffering a season ending injury. Sophomore goalie Jessica Yang led the Angels to an undefeated district record, this is Jessica’s first year ever playing soccer. Seniors Ronika Cavazos and Sarah Martin controlled IWA’s tough back line.
Congratulations to all the players and coaches on yet another amazing season!
