JOB TITLE: Girls Basketball Program Director/ Head Varsity Coach
SUPERVISOR: Athletic Director
SUMMARY: Incarnate Word Academy has a longstanding tradition of preparing young
women for success in college, leadership, and life. The Campus Director of Girls Basketball
serves as the architect and leader of the Academy’s girls basketball program, overseeing its
development across all levels of the school while serving as the Head Varsity Coach.
This role is responsible for establishing a comprehensive girls basketball program that reflects
the mission of Catholic education while pursuing competitive excellence within TAPPS athletics.
The Director develops and implements a vertically aligned program structure that emphasizes
skill development, leadership formation, and disciplined preparation, and character growth.
The position requires year round program leadership including athlete development, coaching
staff mentorship, program culture development, and community engagement. The Director
ensured that the girls basketball program consistently prepares student athletes to compete at a
high level while cultivating the habits of integrity, accountability, teamwork, and servant
leadership that define Incarnate Word Academy.
PROGRAM DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Campus Wide Program Leadership
● Serves as the Campus Director of Girls Basketball, providing strategic leadership for the
sports across elementary, middle and high school levels.
● Establish a unified program philosophy, terminology, and style of play across all girls
basketball teams.
● Collaborate with elementary and middle school coaches to ensure continuity in player
development and program culture.
● Build and maintain a sustainable pipeline of athletes prepared for varsity competition.
Varsity Program Leadership
● Serve as the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach responsible for the preparation,
development, and performance of the varsity program.
● Design and lead structured practices focused on advanced skill development, team
systems, and competitive execution.
● Prepare the team to compete for success within TAPPS district and state competition.
● Utilize film study, analytics, and opponent scouting to enhance competitive preparation.
ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT
● Implement a year round player development system focused on:
○ Fundamental skill mastery
○ Strength and conditioning coordination
○ Basketball IQ and game strategy
○ Leadership development
● Provide individual development plans and performance feedback for student athletes.
- Mentor athletes in academic discipline, character formation, and personal responsibility.
COACHING STAFF LEADERSHIP
● Recruit, train, and mentor assistant coaches across the girls basketball program.
● Provide professional development opportunities and coaching education.
● Establish clear standards for coaching conduct, athlete development, and program
culture.
● Conduct periodic staff evaluations in collaboration with the Athletic Director.
PROGRAM GROWTH AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
● Develop youth camps, clinics, and outreach initiatives that strengthen the long term
growth of girls basketball at Incarnate Word Academy.
● Lead team participation in community service initiatives aligned with the school’s
Catholic mission.
● Build strong relationships with parents, alumni, and the broader school community.
● Promote the program in a way that enhances school spirit and student participation.
OPERATIONS AND COMPLIANCE
● Ensure that the program operates in full compliance with TAPPS regulations and school
policies.
● Coordinate scheduling, transportation, equipment, and facilities with the Athletic
Department.
● Maintain all program documentation including eligibility, rosters, and reporting
requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience
● Previous collegiate, or high school head coaching experience preferred
● Experience in program development and leadership strongly preferred
Skills
● Advanced knowledge of basketball systems and athlete development
● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational ability
● Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of Incarnate Word Academy
