You might find me in the Atrium at Incarnate Word Academy or in classrooms, on campus or online. My work is to help each student draw closer to God, the God who has created us just to love us. Together, we explore our responses to this love, to the many gifts of creation. We read the Bible and explore the places in the world where all these stories unfolded. Together we discover God’s plans for us, in liturgy, sacraments and prayers, in service and work, in art and in how we treat each other. It’s a great job to share this work with each student.

So learning about the Church and its sacraments, about the Bible, the life of Christ and his Gospel, the saints, these are all part of our religious studies. Atrium adds something special, not just study but encounter. It’s making space and time for visiting. God wishes to dwell with and among us. We all love the quiet space and beauty of the Atrium. Its peace promotes this kind of connection, for time to grow in friendship with the Lord. At the outset of this school year, that place of encounter will be on the internet for a while. So be it! Nothing is impossible for God.

I look forward to beginning this new school year and meeting with all of you in our Google classrooms. We will continue with all the Atrium kinds of topics and prayer as I meet with all of you in grades one through five, Montessori and Traditional. We will meet a few times each week. You’ll even have homework to do. I cannot wait to see you!

Love and Blessings,

Ms. Mary

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures;

He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I fear no evil; for you are with me;

Your rod and your staff- they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long. Psalm 23
