I am looking forward to meeting you and working with you/your student! For any additional information or questions, feel free to contact me via email at rosalesr@iwacc.org.

GO ANGELS!!

I am formerly from Granbury, Texas, a small town about 30 minutes Southwest of Ft. Worth. I graduated from Granbury High School in 2013 and ventured to Corpus to begin my bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi! I graduated in December of 2017 with my Bachelors in Psychology and a double minor in History and Kinesiology. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Education.

During my time at TAMUCC, I have served many roles. I was employed at the university Rec Sports Center for 5 years where I worked as a Facility Supervisor, overseeing our gym, weight room, and other employees, as well as Intramural Ref, Office Assistant and my all-time favorite, Camp Supervisor. I began my work with the camp in the summer of 2014 and finished in 2018. As a camp counselor, I worked with children ages 5-12.

During the 2014-2015 year, I began coaching volleyball at the club level. In 2015, I began working with the TAMUCC Islander indoor and beach volleyball teams as a practice player and Volunteer Assistant Coach and concluded in 2017 when I began working at IWA! During my time with the Islanders, we went undefeated in 2015 & 2016 indoor seasons and went to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time ever in program history. For beach, I worked with the inaugural beach teams in 2016 & 2017. During the 2015-2016 club season, I began working at Corpus Christi Force volleyball club and have been there ever since! I am beginning my 6th year at Force and I serve as the Assistant Director. My title is Director of Training and I oversee all teams and offer help with practice planning, drills, line-ups and more. In addition to this, I plan out all of our camps and clinics. I share a role as Recruiting Coordinator with other coaches and my job is to create highlight/skills videos for players who wish to play at the collegiate level.

I began my stint at IWA in 2017 and have been here since! This is my 4th year as an Angel!

I personally believe in individuality and growth. I believe that every student and athlete learn better in different ways than their peers. Of course, some similarities exist, but teaching/coaching one way does not fully work. Our job is to tap into each student’s potential and maximize that potential. I believe in structuring my classroom in a way that create an open and safe learning environment where students can openly express themselves and use that expression in their learning.

COVID-19 has definitely changed the shape of education and has (hopefully) taught kids today to become resilient in an ever-changing academic environment. I strive to allow students to practice autonomy in their assignments and their learning. I try to appeal to each student’s individual differences (learning, creativity, etc.) by creating assignments and projects that allows them to take ownership of their learning, versus a traditional classroom setting.

I combine traditional classroom setting and creativity to foster growth and development within the academic subjects I teach. I try to include many modes of education and learning opportunities such as technology integration (video projects, research, documentaries, movies/films, website making, etc.), along with arts/crafts (making posters, diagrams, brochures, etc.) and traditional pen and paper notes, lectures, assignments. Hopefully with a combination of these modes, I can effectively reach each student in a way that allows them to learn the information with hands-on experience.

I firmly believe in creating and establishing a relationship with my students in a way that makes them love coming to class and stay engaged in the material. Creating and fostering these relationships allows me to understand my students as a whole and as an individual. The students make this job so WORTHWHILE!

Hobbies:

  • Playing indoor or beach volleyball
  • Relaxing by watching TV or movies
  • Going out to eat
  • Being with other people (I’m super social ☺)
  • Spending time with family when I can
  • During COVID, I picked up on how to cook and actually enjoyed it. I cooked for my family many times during the Pandemic and have brought that knowledge back to Corpus! (If you know me, this is a HUGE thing because I never knew how to cook before!!)
