Middle Level Principal

I am Marci Levings, the principal of IWA Middle Level.

My B.A., from the University of Texas--Pan American, is in English, with a minor in communications; my M.S. in Secondary Education is from Texas A&M--Corpus Christi, and I earned a certificate in Catholic School Leadership from Creighton University. My career is dedicated to teaching our youth to become lifelong learners as they prepare for high school and beyond.

At IWA Middle Level, I taught English, speech, reading, creative writing, and theater arts. I also sponsored PSIA Ready Writing and yearbook. From my role as a teacher, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to transition into the role of assistant principal for three years before being appointed as principal.

Travel, one of my favorite hobbies, has taken me across the world multiple times. I have been fortunate to travel to South Korea, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Germany, Chez Republic, Greece, Mexico, and the Bahamas. Yet, one of my favorite places is nestled in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of New Mexico.

My love of learning and travel inspired me to kickstart a travel program at the middle level campus. Two summers ago, I traveled with students to an international student leadership summit in Davos, Switzerland, to learn about the Power of Communication from keynotes speakers Ann Curry, Clint Smith, Kai Kight, and other greats in the field of communication. One of that year's graduating eighth grade students who traveled with us was a member of the winning team at the Summit's competition. The team's group project was selected to be displayed at the Nobel Museum for one year following our tour. I was able to visit the museum at the Nobel Teacher Summit during the same year and had the opportunity to see the display in person.

Family first. I am a proud wife and mother. My two daughters, Kya and Lola, attended Incarnate Word Academy; my husband is a former educator and CCISD teacher of the year at Grant MS. My grandfather was a composer and music professor, so it seems that education runs in our family. While our family has taken a break from fostering puppies and dogs, we are the proud parents of our adopted dogs, Sophia and Penelope.

I take joy in thinking outside the box when it comes to education. Some memorable projects in which I have been involved include hosting, either in-person or online, some distinguished guest speakers, hosting writing workshops, partnering with Action for Apes Challenge, Iron Giraffe Challenge, and WE Movement. I directed staff members as we implemented the Amazing Angel Shake and the House System, and I partnered with students to foster growth in leadership skills by guiding them to create innovative programs like Kids Supporting Kids and Angel Outreach. The First Friday Enrichment Workshops are my way of encouraging both teachers and students to explore new creative outlets.

My great devotion to IWA stems from its Catholic identity, sense of community, high academic standards, and the rich tradition and history that sets it apart. IWA strives to prepare our students for a competitive world through growth in Christian wholeness, scholarship, leadership, service, stewardship, and responsibility.
