English Language Arts and Reading, Grade 7

Hello Angels,

My name is Ann Morris and I teach 7th Grade English Language Arts and Reading for at the Middle Level.

I spent 27 years in public education, where I taught 4th grade for 8 years and 6th and 7th grade middle school language arts for 22 years. I was ELA department chairperson for 10 years and served on campus action plan committees, wrote ELA curriculum during the summers for CCISD.

You may contact me at morrisa@iwacc.org if you have any questions.

My teaching philosophy is to make the classroom a place where students want to be, to work hard, to have fun and to create activities that engage all students.

What motivates me:

My husband, a former football coach and athletic director, because he dedicated himself to bringing out the best in the students he was connected to and motivating them to work hard to be the best that they could be. It is the same with education and being in the classroom with my students. I want to stretch them beyond what they think they are capable of. My children who are all grown now and my seven grandchildren ages 5 - 15.

Words I live by:

  • Scriptures: Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Romans 8:28 - All things work together for good for those that love the Lord and do His will.
  • Motto: Not just have a great day, but make it a day that matters! (to you, your family or anyone else you come in contact with)

Fun Facts:

I have a twin sister that is 5'10" tall and I am only 5'4" tall. I was a Killeen Kangaroo and that's where I met and later married my high school sweetheart.

Hobbies:

I enjoy taking trips camping and being outdoors with my husband and family. I like to refinish small pieces of furniture and love to decorate my home with unusual finds from garage sales and flea markets

What I love about IWA:

I absolutely love being able to share my faith and my love for Jesus and incorporating this into classroom instruction.
