Religious Studies, Grades 6-7

Hi there,

My name is Mrs. Mimi Guajardo. Most of my teaching career has been spent here at Incarnate Word Academy- Middle level. I have been here so long that I taught here when it was Incarnate Word Junior High school. At that time, the school had only 7th and 8th grade students. I have taught in every classroom of the old middle school building, including the elementary portables.
I am also a graduate of the high school. There are quite a few people in our family who have come through this school.

I went to Del Mar College and graduated from St. Mary's University.

I have taught science, religion, Spanish and mediation at the middle level. Presently I teach my most favorite subject- religious studies  to 6th and 7th grade students.

In our study of the Old and New Testaments, students focus on those who waited on the Savior, those who lived among the Savior,  and taught us to reflect His teachings.

In our everyday life, our goal is to be like Jesus in all we say and do.

Time enjoyed doing:

Weedeating. Yes, I love trimming with the weedeater. It brings me peace, allowing me to gather my thoughts with no interference.  Who is going to get close to someone weedeating?

Giving time, money, and goods to those in need.

Listening to pop music from the 40's through the 80's. After that, I am lost. Spanish music my dad introduced me to is also a favorite.

Teaching: Meeting my new students or children and seeing them flourish.

My husband and i have been married for 46 years. We have two wonderful sons.

I am forever grateful to all the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament for their love and support throughout the years.
