Our new Traditional Pre-K program for 3 year olds will provide a fun and friendly way to start your child’s school experience with a loving and caring atmosphere in which students can gain self-confidence, develop friendships and learn about the world around them. Through play, song and age-appropriate structured learning, students can develop independence, a sense of self, and a love of learning. The new Traditional Pre-K program will be available as both a half-day and full-day program.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium is based on work of Maria Montessori and other catechists early in the 20th century. The program was initiated at IWA in 2003 and has been the work of many hands and souls over the past fifteen years. The Atrium is a place of order and beauty, lovingly prepared to bring children into direct contact with God's richest truths and mysteries. It is a place of silence, contemplation and focused activities. The materials allow children to choose work that draws them closer to God. All of the works are based on Liturgy and Scripture, the two pillars of the Catechesis. Each class comes to the Atrium once a week in place of their religion class on that day. The IWA Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program serves children from their very first year through eighth grade.
Our new wireless computer lab, which will be located within the new Montessori building, will offer 30 brand new 2-in-1 computer tablets which will further extend the accessibility to academic databases and online resources currently available to our students. The wireless computer lab will offer our youngest Angels the opportunity to learn and collaborate with each other in a highly flexible and accommodating environment.
Used as a quiet place to relax and recharge, our new memorial rosary garden will offer peace and tranquility for all students, faculty, and staff campus-wide where thoughtful serenity and prayer is welcome. The memorial garden will feature a walking path where students can pray the Rosary, reflect on benches, and pray next to memorial plaques commemorating the lives of IWA Angels Andrew McComb, Leighton McComb, and Oliver Rumley.
Our Montessori program, founded in September of 1965, is the oldest Catholic Montessori School in Corpus Christi. The program provides an environment teaching respect, compassion, and responsibility for one another and for the earth. To accommodate classroom space, the new 14,000 square foot Montessori building will include seven classrooms, wireless computer lab, the Atrium for the Catechesis of the Good Shepard program, administrative offices, faculty lounge, and rosary garden.
