House Altruismo Hosts Car Wash for Teacher Appreciation Week

Incarnate Word Academy Middle Level House Altruismo hosted a car wash for Teacher Appreciation Week on Saturday, April 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There were three stations along the horseshoe driveway at the Alameda entrance with a prewash, wash, and rinse and dry.

When asked why students in House Altruismo at the Middle Level decided to host a car wash for teachers, sixth grader Matthew Bagala said, "We are washing cars because we want to do something kind in return for how hard our teachers and staff work to make learning meaningful and fun.”

Altruismo is one of four Houses, along with Isibindi, Reveur, and Amistad, in the Middle House system. Participation in the Houses engages students in leadership, team-building, and builds a rapport across grade levels. Using friendly competition, students are encouraged to thrive in academics, athletics, extra-curricular activities, school spirit, and community service.
