View ANGELeNEWS in a web browser. APRIL 17, 2019 | ANGEL eNEWS HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL: LAST PEP RALLY OF THE YEAR The High School Level held their last pep rally of the school year on April 12th. The pep rally was jungle-themed and students dressed in their best safari-themed outfits. Students also competed in a game of Skin the Snake, which the girls' team won outstandingly when they successfully pulled each member to a standing position, while the boys amusingly fell back.
For 2019 graduates, was their final pep rally as seniors at IWA before the school year comes to a close. Juniors also look forward to becoming seniors in the coming academic year, making this an exciting time for Angels of all levels as they move on to the next step of their journeys.

FLAG POLE DEDICATION IN HONOR OF MR. ADOLFO GARZA You're invited to attend the flag pole dedication ceremony for Mr. Adolfo Garza, who is retiring at the end of this school year, in honor of his 18 years of service as Middle Level Principal.
The flag pole dedication ceremony will be held on May 3rd at 8:05 a.m. in the Middle Level Courtyard. We welcome anyone who would like to attend and we hope to see you there!
May 3rd: Flag Pole Dedication MIDDLE LEVEL ROBOTICS STUDENTS BRING HOME TROPHY Middle Level students from Mr. Howard Ludlow's robotics classes competed in the FIRST LEGO Robotics Regional Championship held in San Antonio, Texas on March 23rd.
The robotics team, named the ANGELBOTS, won the trophy for Best Project and came in 5th out of 58 teams in the Robot Game for an overall 5th place finish. IWA placed in the top 1,000 teams worldwide out of the 50,000 teams participating in the competition.
The ANGELBOTS team members are eighth grader Alek Brysch and seventh graders Gabriel Armstrong, Eldon Cass, Andy Kretsinger, and Diego Roberts.
Video: FIRST LEGO Championship Robot Game Media Gallery: FIRST Robotics Championship Angels in the News: ELEMENTARY LEVEL ASSEMBLY & STATIONS OF THE CROSS Elementary Level held an assembly and Stations of the Cross presentation on March 29th in the James R. Dougherty Jr. Center.
Numerous students were recognized for their accomplishments at the PSIA District Meet with certificates and medals of achievement.
A live, silhouetted Stations of the Cross was performed by 5th grade students to demonstrate what Jesus experienced on his path to crucifixion; to relay the sacrifice that He undertook for our salvation.
Media Gallery: Assembly & Stations of the Cross MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR The Middle and High School Level Scholastic Book Fair was held on campus during the week of April 8th. The fair featured an Enchanted Forest theme and offered a wide selection of books for visitors to choose from.
There's still time to shop online to help support the Middle and High School Level Library Media Resource Center. Orders ship free to IWA and the online book fair closes on April 28th.
Shop Online: Incarnate Word Academy Book Fair Media Gallery: ML HS Scholastic Book Fair SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTION CEREMONY On March 28th, the High School Level Spanish Honor Society held an induction ceremony in the High School Level Library Media Resource Center to welcome 27 new members to the organization.
Each officer spoke about the different values of the Spanish Honor Society in both English and Spanish, and each student's candle was lit, symbolizing the induction of each member.
Congratulations to the new inductees!
Media Gallery: Spanish Honor Society Induction MIDDLE LEVEL ANGELS SHINE AT SPRING TALENT SHOW The Middle Level Student Council held its Spring Talent Show on March 29th. Numerous acts were featured, including solo musical performances, dance acts, and a theatrical poetry reading.
We can't thank our Angels enough for sharing their talents with us and for putting on a fantastic show!
Media Gallery: Middle Level Spring Talent Show ELEMENTARY LEVEL STUDENTS TOP THE CHARTS FOR AR POINTS Elementary Level students Samantha Nerios and Chapman Dodd currently hold the most Accelerated Reader Points! Samantha, a Traditional 5th grader, has 798 points. Chapman, a Montessori 1st grader, has 613 points.
When asked how many points they hope to have by the May 10th deadline, Samantha replied that she'd like to have 1,000, and Chapman said he'd like to reach 800.
We look forward to seeing how many points our students can earn by May 10th! MIDDLE LEVEL SWIMMING RESULTS Middle Level swimmers participated in the annual CCISD Middle School Invite and the Tuloso-Midway Middle School Swim Meet during late March and early April. The 8th grade girls, Isabella Chimbunde, Janah Siguenza, and Chloe Rosales took 2nd place during both events and 7th grade boys Luke Becker and Alex Craig tied for 5th place during both events, with a tie at the CCISD Invite.
Our Angels also continue to shave time off their 100 Free Relay times, with 8th grade girls besting their previous record time by 0.55 seconds at the CCISD Invite. Way to go, Angels! FRENCH HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTION CEREMONY The High School Level French Honor Society held their induction ceremony on April 4th in the High School Level Library Media Resource Center.
Inductees were recognized for their enthusiasm and scholarship in studying the French language and culture. Each student lit a candle to signify their induction to the society.

Several students quickly put on their new shirts to show their pride and eagerness to become High School Level Angels within the next couple of years!

GARDEN CLUB GIVES PLANTS A NEW HOME During the month of March, the Elementary Level Garden Club enjoyed a beautiful day of planting flower pots. Students worked together to give several plants new, spacious pots to grow in. May our Angels bloom as the flowers do!

Konigsburg, a novel set at the MET museum in NYC, Middle Level English students created a work of art while on their backs, similar to how Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel's ceiling.
