The IWA Middle Level uses college preparatory curriculum including an interdisciplinary approach, which emphasizes the relationship between subject areas.

The average class size at the Middle Level is 18 students, with a total enrollment (2019-2020) of 153 students.

Electives include robotics, computer applications, art, music, critical thinking, debate, mock trial, theatre arts, Spanish, test-taking study skills, math and science skills, and keyboarding.

All eighth grade students earn High School Level credit by taking Communication Applications (Speech).

Qualifying eighth grade students are eligible to earn High School Level credits for Pre-AP Biology, Pre-AP Geometry, Algebra I, IPC (Integrated Physics and Chemistry), Spanish I, and Speech.

Qualifying eighth grade students are eligible to take language arts honors.

Tutoring is provided in each subject on a weekly basis.

IWA Middle Level has consistently seen students become state qualifiers at the Private School Interscholastic Association (PSIA) Academic Meet.

IWA Middle Level placed first at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi 2018 Coastal Bend Engineering Competition.

The Middle Level Robotics Team placed first at the Regional FIRST LEGO League Competition.

Students attend Mass with their classmates onec per week, and all IWA students (K-12) will gather at a campus-wide mass four times throughout the school year.

Students take leadership roles in different parts of the liturgy, including helping with the seat and equipment setup, running the sound system, lectoring, and cantoring.

The Atrium serves to bring a program called the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd to all students from K3 through 8th grade. The CGS seeks to provide time and space to help us draw closer to God.

The program invites each child to work with their hands and to directly experience materials designed for them. The environment and the materials reflect the developmental characteristics and needs of each of the age groups served.

Middle Level students will participate in an off-campus spiritual retreat with their grade level.

Hands-on learning is an important part of all IWA Classes. Science students take care of fish, hamsters, and even rabbits!

Learn about coding, keyboarding, computer documents, and more in the computer lab.

Classrooms are equipped with SMART board technology, computer access, personal lockers, and prayer corners.

The Middle Level frequently invites noteworthy and insightful guest speakers to campus. This is Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush giving a Texas map lesson to our seventh grade Texas History students.

Colleges and Universities from all over the country attend the IWA college fair to recruit our students. 7th and 8th graders are invited to meet college recruiters and gather information about schools they are interested in.

An IWA education extends beyond the campus walls. Middle level students participate in enrichment workshops where they learn about table etiquette, self-defense, sewing ...

... water safety, ping-pong, and much more!

Middle Level students at Incarnate Word Academy are able to join a variety of different athletic teams. Baseball, Softball, Cross Country, Golf, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, and Track & Field are offered to all sixth through eighth graders.

The athletic department's goal is to help develop each student's character in a Catholic environment. Our athletic program believes in using competition to develop interpersonal skills, commitment, teamwork, and respect.

Academics play a vital role in the eligibility of students who want to participate in athletics, whether at the middle level or the high school level. Students are taught to balance sports with their academics and other extra-curricular activities.

Coaches continuously encourage students to excel in all classes and to stay current on all class assignments and homework.

IWA's chess club goes toe-to-toe with the best in the area and consistently has top placements at the Texas Southern State Grade Chess Championships.

Find your place in the IWA House System

Students are divided into four houses where they will compete throughout the year. Points can be earned in a variety of ways, including attendance, community service, projects, and more!

Middle Level students can compete in the Ron Clark Academy National Amazing Shake Competition where they will learn many life-long communication skills.

Amazing Shake participants will learn about salesmanship, public speaking, interview strategies, and more.

IWA students completed over 30,000 hours of community service during the 2018-2019 school year.

Incarnate Word Academy provides a loving and caring Catholic environment where students will be challenged academically.

Thank you for visiting our campus on this virtual tour. We would love to answer any questions you have, and we hope to see you on campus soon!
