Teacher Spotlight: Coach DeLeon
Teacher Spotlight: Coach DeLeon

This weeks teacher spotlight is Cris DeLeon, who has been in Catholic Education for over 15 years. She has spent seven years at Incarnate Word Academy, where she currently coaches cross-country, track, and volleyball.

Coach DeLeon has her Associate's in Business from Del Mar College. She was a flight attendant for Continental Airlines - her favorite trip during that time was to Australia because of its rich culture and calm atmosphere.

When she's not coaching, Coach DeLeon serves as the Rêveur House Lead Teacher and sponsors the Chess Club. Coach DeLeon serves as a Tournament Director for the United States Chess Federation, where she is the highest ranking female in Texas!

A saying that Coach DeLeon lives by and uses to encourage her students is, "stay positive, work hard, and make it happen!" If you know Coach, you know that she most certainly does just that! Additionally, if she could pass on any wisdom to her students, she would tell them to begin each day as a new day, and not to worry about yesterday.

We're more than blessed to have Coach DeLeon as a part of the IWA family - thank you for all that you do!
