PSIA (Private Schools Interscholastic Association) provides a sense of belonging and achievement for every student to participate in multiple events. Students experience self discipline, self confidence and a sense of accomplishment. PSIA also teaches students to persevere through adversity (competition and defeat) and turn it into motivation to work harder and improve their skills which is a lifelong discipline. Students who participate in the PSIA competition bring that experience back into the classroom where they are more energized to succeed.
Students will find new excitement in learning. The goal of PSIA is to achieve mastery and test their skills and knowledge. We want students to know the satisfaction of their best performance and receive recognition for academic excellence.
With 20 contest categories covering a wide range of disciplines in 62 academic contests, PSIA provides an exciting opportunity for private school students in grades one through eight to engage in academic competition with their peers throughout the state of Texas. PSIA remains the most comprehensive academic extracurricular program in the nation for students in grades one through eight. The contest includes:
- Creative Writing
- Ready Writing
- Art Memory
- Poetry Interpretation
- Maps, Graphs, and Charts
- Music Memory
- Dictionary Skills
- Listening Skills
- Information Skills
