Wellesley is known for the excellence of its education, the beauty of its setting, its gifted faculty, and the uniqueness of its campus culture.
But most of all, Wellesley is known for the thousands of accomplished, thoughtful women it has sent out into the world for over 100 years - women who are committed to making a difference.
Wellesley College is a private women's liberal-arts college in the town of Wellesley, Massachusetts - west of Boston.
This fall Wellesley welcomed 593 students to the Class of 2018. These students have enlivened our community with new energy and enthusiasm. Members of the first-year class were chosen from 4,710 applicants for an admission rate of 30 percent. Students represent 44 states and 33 countries. More than 60% of students receive need-based financial aid.
We are pleased to share with you the Wellesley College Admission Report to Schools (pdf) at www.wellesley.edu/admission/admissionreport2014.
This report highlights:
- Statistics for the Class of 2018;
- Description of our MyIntuition cost estimator tool designed to help families get a realistic sense of Wellesley's costs through six simple financial questions;
- Description of our new shadow-grading policy for first-year students introduced to enable first-year students to make a strong start in their intellectual journey at Wellesley;
- Practical advice for students through their college search; and more!
We hope that you find this report helpful in advising students and that you will share it with your colleagues.
